Castles, PE, Principal and Senior Materials Engineer, has been awarded an "Honorary Lifetime Membership" to the Arizona Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (AZACI). This award recognizes Mr. Castles as "a person of eminence in the field of concrete in the State of Arizona."
Mr. Castles has extensive experience with construction quality control methods and procedures and has provided quality control management and administrative services for numerous DOT, Corps of Engineers, and FAA projects.
Bryan has been an active ACI member for many years and a Past President of the ACI Arizona Chapter. He is currently a member of ACI committees — 211, Proportioning Concrete Mixtures; 214, Evaluation of Results of Tests Used to Determine the Strength of Concrete; 221, Aggregates; and E702, Designing Concrete Structures.
In 1983, Mr. Castles received his BS in civil engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is a licensed professional engineer in Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada.

JOINS WESTERN TECHNOLOGIES INC.
Phoenix, AZ (July 9, 2010) – Western Technologies (WT) is proud to announce that Luke Snell, PE, has joined the firm as Senior Construction Materials Engineer. Snell is the former Eminent Scholar of the Concrete Industry Management program in the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University.
Working out of Western's Phoenix office, Snell will be helping clients solve construction and concrete problems through his wide-ranging experience and technical expertise. He has written over 200 articles on concrete, construction materials, and construction education, and has done extensive consulting throughout the U.S., Algeria, Mongolia and Saudi Arabia.
He is an American Concrete Institute (ACI) Fellow and received the ACI Joe W. Kelly Award in 1995, the ACI Chapter Activities Award in 1997, and was the ACI Educational Committee Member of The Year in 2002. He has received various other awards and was named one of the Ten Most Influential People of The Year in the Concrete Industry by Concrete Construction and Concrete Producer magazines in 2007, Construction Laureate of Mongolia (2007), and the Henry L. Kennedy Award from ACI (2008).
Snell is the Chair of the ACI International Committee and is a member of ACI Committees E702, Designing Concrete Structures; the Construction Liaison Committee; Financial Activities Committee; and the Chapter Activities Committee. He is a Past Chair of ACI Committees 517, Accelerated Curing of Concrete; E702, Designing Concrete Structures; the ACI Chapter Activities Committee; ACI 120, History of Concrete and the Educational Activities Committee, and is a past member of the Board of Direction. He has been instrumental in starting ACI chapters in Algeria, Ethiopia and Mongolia and has worked with India and Saudi Arabia to start concrete certification programs.

GEOTECHNICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANTS (GEC)
Phoenix, AZ (August 31, 2009) – Western Technologies (WT) has acquired the assets of Phoenix-based Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants, Inc. (GEC). The acquisition adds 17 employees to WT Phoenix, including 7 additional registered engineers and 2 registered geologists. As a result of the acquisition, WT Phoenix will have a total of 75 employees, 14 registered engineers and 2 registered geologists.
The acquisition of GEC, founded in 1989, greatly expands the depth of environmental services available to WT. Clients of GEC will also benefit.
